Whirlpool Corporation Selects The Pizzuti Companies to Develop New Factory Distribution Center in Tulsa

COLUMBUS, OH – The Pizzuti Companies has been selected to develop a new build-to-suit lease Factory Distribution Center (FDC) for the Whirlpool Corporation in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Whirlpool Corporation, the nation’s leading manufacturer of major home appliances selected Columbus-based Pizzuti to build and lease the $55 million, 800,000 square foot warehouse. Pizzuti will serve as owner and developer; ARCO Construction Company, Inc. will serve as the design-build team.

Positioned next to a Manufacturing Plant that produces 2.1 million cooking products per year, construction of the new warehouse will increase the production capacity at one of Whirlpool Corporation’s core manufacturing assets. In addition, the new warehouse will further improve the company’s supply chain as it is centrally located among the company’s existing North American distribution centers.

“This new facility will help us streamline operations, from both a production and distribution standpoint, and ultimately allow us to better serve our customers throughout the region,” said Jim Keppler, vice president, Integrated Supply Chain and Quality – North America Region at Whirlpool Corporation. “This investment is a testament to our skilled workforce in Tulsa and our strong relationship with the state of Oklahoma and the Tulsa community. We’re excited to break ground and bring this project to life.”

The Tulsa project represents the 14th Pizzuti/Whirlpool development project since 2000. Together, the companies have developed over 7 million square feet of industrial and office facilities throughout the country, totaling over $400 million. Other projects include a $65 million, 1.6 million square foot Regional Distribution Center in Columbus, Ohio as well as a renovation of Whirlpool Corporation’s existing global headquarters and new development of their three-building corporate office campus in downtown Benton Harbor, Michigan, totaling $130 million.

“We are pleased to continue our long standing relationship with the Whirlpool,” said Jim Miller, Executive Vice President of Development for The Pizzuti Companies. “Pizzuti and Whirlpool share a commitment to innovation, sustainability and quality that is evident in each of our development projects, and we look forward to delivering another building that is an asset to Whirlpool for many years to come.”

As part of Pizzuti’s national build-to-suit services, the firm has successfully completed construction of over 11 million square feet of build-to-suit facilities from Texas to Florida. While Pizzuti is known for their capabilities in site selection, design and construction, the firm is repeatedly chosen by Fortune 500 companies because of their reputation for building close working relationships with their clients.

Construction for the project began in late November, and completion is scheduled for December 2019.
