On Thursday, June 21st The Pizzuti Companies held a ceremonial groundbreaking on the site where the company will develop The Joseph Nashville, a Luxury Collection Hotel in Nashville’s SoBro neighborhood. The 21-story hotel will be located on 0.79 acres at the corner of Korean Veterans Boulevard and Fourth Avenue South and will include 297 guest rooms.
Representatives from Pizzuti, Marriott, the City of Nashville, and the Nashville Symphony took part in today’s ceremony.
“We are excited and focused on delivering a luxury hotel experience that compliments the tremendous growth and prosperity of the city,” said Joel S. Pizzuti, President of The Pizzuti Companies. “With its unique set of amenities, premier location, and commitment to world-class art and design, we are dedicated to making The Joseph Nashville an outstanding addition to the city.”
Embracing the Luxury Collection’s reputation for providing unparalleled guest experiences, the twenty-first floor of The Joseph Nashville will feature a full-service luxury spa, state-of-the art fitness center with floor-to-ceiling windows, an expansive pool deck and contemporary bar. Towering over 200 feet in the air, the entire rooftop will have unobstructed views of the Nashville skyline and Cumberland River.
The eighth floor of the hotel will include over 18,000 square feet of banquet and meeting space, highlighted by a terrace that will run along Fourth Avenue South and Korean Veterans Boulevard. Connecting the entire exterior of the hotel, the terrace will cover almost 5,000 square feet, providing guests with a one-of-a-kind indoor/outdoor experience.
Creating an experience that is unique to Nashville, The Joseph will highlight an original Tennessee art program, where the work of local artists will adorn the walls of every guest room throughout the hotel. The Joseph Nashville art program will be complimented in the public spaces by art from the Pizzuti family’s private art collection.
Through a partnership with the Nashville Symphony, development of the hotel will include a structured parking garage with 180 spaces dedicated to the exclusive use of the symphony. In addition to providing the symphony with a long-term parking solution, the partnership supports the expansion of the hotel’s art program to include performing arts.
Positioned in the heart of the SoBro neighborhood, The Joseph Nashville will be conveniently located within walking distance of Music City Center. Once complete, the hotel will add 100 rooms to the convention center’s room block, expanding the city’s portfolio of upscale, luxury hotel offerings.
The original Joseph Hotel opened in 2015 and is located in the Short North Arts District in downtown Columbus. In 2015 Architectural Digest placed the hotel on its “11 Best New Hotels Around the World” list. Featuring the work of local Ohio artists, the original hotel also displays art from the Pizzuti family’s contemporary art collection.
Pizzuti’s Nashville hotel project team includes Arquitectonica; Elness Swenson Graham Architects; ArquitectonicaGEO; and Brasfield & Gorrie. Construction is expected to be complete in the fall of 2020.
