Newly installed artwork has been unveiled at The Joseph Hotel featuring works by artists Alex Dodge, Florian Meisenberg, KAWS, Clare Rojas and Timothy Curtis.

The Joseph Hotel was the first art-oriented hotel in Columbus, Ohio. Ron Pizzuti, Chairman, and Joel Pizzuti, CEO, of The Pizzuti Companies, have nurtured Pizzuti’s commitment to making art a priority within the Pizzuti portfolio and throughout the community by placing artwork on display for all to enjoy.

Showcased throughout the second-floor mezzanine, the works of these five artists feature silkscreen, oil and airbrush on canvases, embossed aluminum, screen printing and reductive collages, among others.

Replacing KAWS’s inaugural artwork above the lobby staircase is Timothy Curtis’s Seventy-two Faces, an epically sized painting created by the artist expressing the day-to-day emotions of life over the last two years. Florian Meisenberg’s artwork atop the staircase boasts quirky initial impact, explosively cheerful colors, and biomorphic shapes. From the Pizzuti family Collection are Clare Rojas’ simplistic figures inspired by folk art. Rojas, born in Columbus, Ohio, is known for her use of flat patterns and geometric shapes in abstract and representational visuals.

Alex Dodge’s oil on canvas paintings are displayed throughout the second-floor hall and feature his signature raised patterns of oil paint. They are digitally sketched using 3D design software before landing on traditional canvas using laser cut stencils and airbrushed backgrounds. Alex Dodge’s work is also displayed in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Museum of Fine Arts Boston.

With thoughtful consideration and the utmost attention to aesthetics, each project by The Pizzuti Companies aims to make art more accessible, transforming spaces and in turn, artists and artwork are carefully selected for each individual space.
